- Shopify calculates duties and taxes first before applying discount codes.
- After the discount code is applied, there is no capability to recalculate duties and taxes based on the new, discounted price.
Impact:
- Pre-Discount Calculation: Duties and taxes are based on the original price of the items in the cart.
- No Post-Discount Adjustment: Since Shopify does not allow recalculating duties and taxes after a discount is applied, the charges remain based on the pre-discount price.
Moving forward:
- Future Updates: We are aware of this limitation and will update our customers if there are any changes or improvements to Shopify's order of operations that would allow for more accurate duty and tax calculations on discounted items.
